Buttons - I love them and I'm not talking about the Panto sort! A friend of mine at our Textiles group (Material Girls) took a picture on her phone of my mini button tin (that I take with me each week like a little treasure case). I do have to admit there are many more buttons at home, some inherited and others collected from ends of projects or just when my magpie eye catches something colourful and usually sparkly in a material store.
What's nice about our group is rather than feeling strange for liking these odd light pieces of bling, you find others delight in them too. I have a button & bows board on Pinterest and have discovered there are many collectors out there and lots of talented artist working with these little bits of metal, crystal or plastic. Wedding Bouquets are not only adorned with vintage buttons, but sometimes nowadays are made entirely out of them or buttons are used to make amazing collage pictures. The possibilities as they say are endless, why not have a search and see what clever and creative uses you could put your hoard to.
Last Year my Mother-in-Law brought me three ceramic buttons from a Cornish Craft maker and I used them to make some button pictures, which you can see in the top right of this picture.
