Work in progress

 It's coming along...

You may have guessed by now that I love Cornwall Mine engines and their significant place in the Cornish landscape. This is hardly surprising as I come from a long line of Mining Engineers that helped design the pumping engines that facilitated the extraction of the ore from the land (and sometimes even from under the sea). This weekend marked the 100th Anniversary of the Levant Mining Disaster, when 31 men tragically lost their lives after the man engine that help transport them up and down the workings broke. While the man engine was mercifully not designed by Francis Michell he did design the Whim Engine at Levant that enabled ore to be transported from its deep workings.
