"The bad news is, people are crueller, meaner and more evil than you've ever imagined. The Good news is people are kinder, gentler and more loving than you've ever dreamed"
Our news is saturated (excuse the pun) at the moment with bad weather news and a scattering of evil people thrown in for good measure. This combination is enough to cause even the strong minded to question where the good in the world has gone. The trick to remaining happy I believe, lies in seeing all the beauty and love in the world and not letting the evil taint the way we view life.
Yet more weather disruption hit our shores at the weekend, only weeks after the last batch of deep low pressure did so much damage. In fact the days recently have felt like one endless rain storm. I have luckily only been inconvenienced be this bad weather while others homes have been flooded and lives lost. I have been struck by the resolve of the communities that have been worst hit. They have shown great dignity and strength, banding together to save what each holds dear. They have shown the best of human kind and can be a lesson to us all.
I fear the rain has not done with us yet, but while we hope for sunshine in the days ahead and finding ourselves powerless to shift the grey clouds in the sky, maybe we should look to lift some metaphoric ones instead. I'm going to see the best in others this week and try and help others where I can.
Forgive me this is not my photo but one shared with me on Facebook - I thought it symbolic of the rays of hope I speak of.
