Be Patient

Be patient towards all that is unsolved in your heart
and try to learn to love the questions themselves
- Ranier Maria Rilkie
The quote continues 'do not seek the answers, which cannot be given to you because you would not be able to live them.' This doesn't just mean life is mysterious - so get on with it, though that is partly true. I think it means that we shouldn't fixate on the things that might perplex us, because by living the whole we might eventually see the answers to our questions from a different perspective.
In a world where instant gratification is king, it can seem disturbing for our lives to remain too long in flux. We want an instant fix, a quick resolution when we feel the world shifting beneath us. I am not a naturally patient soul, even
though I can loose myself in the intricacies of my craft for hours (while others say they would find similar activities too demanding of their patients to even attempt), yet I find my emotional response to the world far hard to control.
Some days there seem too many questions and my heart can seem weighed down by self inflicted expectation and doubt. When I feel unclear how to resolve the maze of thoughts in my head, I think of this quote because it tell me its ok when thing are unresolved and that though I can strive for solutions its also ok to hold those questions near until such time as the world is ready to reveal the answers to me. This isn't easy you have to leave you inner control freak at the door and learn to let go. This bring a final thought to mind, I read this quote recently, that you should strive to 'be strong enough to let go and patient enough to wait for what you deserve.' I hope the waiting pays off, enjoy the journey.
