A glass full

"It doesn't matter if the glass is half empty or half full... Be grateful that you have a glass, and there is something in it..."

Christmas preparations seem to be in full flow right now.  All the TV Ads seem to be selling us some dream or other that will make our festive season a perfect one. People pass me in the street with their 'must have' gifts and festive fare.

I have to admit I'm a half empty kind of girl, you'll never be disappointed is my excuse for my less than positive thinking. I am trying to change this habit of a lifetime and lead a more positive life (not an easy ask). I love this quote because it kind of cuts thru any kind of navel gazing or self introspection and says, hey people be glad you have a cup at all.

This is so true and as we enter another season of gift buying for people who don't really 'need' anything. We should be mindful of those who have lost everything or who never had a cup our size to begin with. Gratetude is a lovely quality to take with us into the commercial bedlam of the coming weeks. Simple be grateful for what and whom you have in your life that is worth celebrating. There is always something you can be thankful for (however small) and it doesn't have to come with a gift receipt!

  1. Love this post Anna. I've been having the same conversation with my mum. We don't 'need' anything in particular this year and I have said this to her. I wonder sometimes if we buy presents to make ourselves feel better rather than for the person they are intended for. I have to say I have been guilty of this in the past but this year a lot of things will be hand made with thought and love going into them. Hopefully they will be appreciated.
