Monday Muse

Don't stress the could haves.
If it should have, it would have.

The missed opportunity, the 'what if' that keeps you awake in the dark, are a futile waste of energy. Unless you have the gift of foresight and the ability to see multiple futures, you can never know what effect on your future a different action would have led too. I'm not suggesting you should stop trying and leave it all to chance, but that the inner pressure that can push you to the brink of madness can definitely chill out.
This week is the City of Lights parade in Truro and it marks the start of the Christmas event in the city. I use it as a personal marker to start my Christmas rituals and traditions, there I used the 'c' word twice even before December! For some the build up to this 'special' day can seem more of a nightmare than a joyous time of the year. When you've taken on way too much and you're close to cracking this festive season I want you to hold this thought, because it will free you from your inner critic - that thinks your not good enough and that you suck at everything, including finding that perfect gift for Auntie T.
Its ok to say my best is enough and even my failures are ok too. This philosophy can be scaled up and used in more significant aspects of your life. It will stop you figuratively looking over your shoulder about past events or scrutinising what others seem to achieve in the same timeframe compared to you. These activities are like hunting for a mythical creature (like a dragon), you are chasing a figment of your own imagination. You might see a glimpse of the truth, but you can never see the whole until you've lived it. So take five and let the music take you through the carnival of life without beating yourself up about things that are truly beyond your can't control. Enjoy!
