Flower Power

https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-chelsea-flower-show RHS Chelsea Flower Show starts this week and as always this time of year I am reminded of my fondness for flowers and how I love to recreate them in my artwork.
As many of you know I have made a number of paper flower picture over the years and even have them as my avatar on social media.

I went to see the wonderful Bluebells at Enys Gardens a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by the beauty of these delicate flowers on mass.
I recently picked up this wonderful book about flowers in art (see picture below). Which looks at different artists interpretation of nature in art. There is a great quote in it from Charles Rennie Mackintosh 'Art is the flower and life is the green leaf' next to a picture he did of Anemones. I must have been subconsciously inspired by this when I made a card a few years ago for a dear friend, so I thought I would combine the picture with the quote. I love trying to capture the essence of flowers and every new bunch I see is a picture waiting to happen.
