Moving

"The great thing in this world is not so much where we stand,
as in what direction we are moving"
Oliver Wendell Holmes
I know quite a lot of people who are moving house and though this might be a good sign for the economy, it can be a time of emotional trauma. I think whenever we move from one state of being to another, whether it be physical movement or a shift in our mind-set, the pressure often builds. its good to remember that though they seem very personal events, these are usual junctions in life that everyone has to cross. The thing is its very easy to swept up in the 'crisis point' and loose all sense of direction and purpose to see yourself to the next phase.
The trick I think, is not to look down, but to keep moving. Don't look at the cracks that might have formed under your feet while you were pondering life (or those in the ceiling for that matter) because that's a sure fire way of rooting yourself to the spot - a bit like the picture I took years ago. I know it can be hard to leave one phase of your life, especially if that's all you have known for a long time, but circumstances change and it is far easier to go with the tide than swim against it.
Instead you should aim to strike out with purposefulness to explore the new and the opportunities that can be right on your doorstep if you are open to the possibilities. Because time keeps on a pace and if you root yourself to the spot for too long, you may wonder where it all went. The willingness to try and keep trying is what ultimately keeps life fresh and new - not wallpapering over the cracks.
Happy Moving!!
