Go Boldly

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy,
not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
- Socrates
I've been out today visiting family in the far west of the county and it occurred to me that our lives are often in a sense of flux like the out going tide in this picture of St Michaels Mount I took over lunch. Sometimes its obvious change like when a loved one dies or when we start a new job, but sometime its just the every day motion of our lives that slowly moves us some place new or steers us back home after time spent away. It is always fear that causes us to fight these changes and perhaps we should try and be more like the tide and go with the flow!
I love this image (not for its photographic qualities - it was take from the window) but I like the fact that if you look close enough you can just see the causeway, that at low tide takes people to the Mount appearing from under the water. I wonder if the figures in the foreground will choose to take the path when it is finally presented to them or whether they will choose to stay on the familiar shore (we'll never know!). I hope they go boldly and experience the new, because that's what makes life such a wonderful pleasure to me.
